Jessica Edom-Carey
Jessica was born and educated in Chelmsford in Essex and studied singing with Steven Varcoe and Angela Bostock whilst still at school. She also held the title of Essex Rotary Musician and Singer of the Year for three consecutive years.
On leaving school Jessica was offered a place at the Royal College of Music, where she gained her Bachelor Music degree. She was subsequently accepted for a further two years at the Royal college as a Keith Poole Scholar, where she successfully completed her Masters in Vocal Performance. She studied under Tim Evans-Jones, Bryan Evans, Roderick Earle and Amanda Roocroft.
Jessica enjoys working with a broad range of music and has performed as a soloist at many major venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Royal Festival Hall and St. Paul’s Cathedral. Her singing has involved her in the music of Gilbert and Sullivan, and roles in musical theatre such as Cosette in Les Miserables and Christine in Phantom of the Opera to semi-staged productions of Mahler’s Das Knaben Wunderhorn and Schuman’s Myrten with Roger Vignoles. 
As a recitalist appearing throughout the UK and also a regular soloist on the oratorio circuit, Jessica has performed many major works including The Creation (Haydn), The Messiah (Handel), Judas Maccabeus (Handel), Samson (Handel), Mass in G (Schubert), Solemn Vespers (Mozart), Regina Coeli (Mozart), Requiem (Mozart) Lauda Sion (Mendelssohn), Mozart Requiem, Faure’s Requiem, Dona Nobis Pacem ,(Vaughan Williams), Gurrelieder Schoenberg, Les Noces, Stravinsky and Ceremony of Carols (Britten).
Jessica’s favourite art form is opera, and she has recently been involved in Tete-a-Tete’s commission ‘Odysseys’ where she took leading roles in the debut performances of two new short operas. Recently she has worked with Random Opera in L’Elisir d’amore, Donizetti and Suor Angelica by Puccini where she took the role of La Cercatrice with British Youth Opera.
She has performed many major roles including La Contessa (Le Nozze di figaro, Mozart), Mimi (La Boheme, Puccini), Firodiligi (Cosi Fan Tutte, Mozart), Blanche (Dialogues des Carmelites, Poulenc), Helena (a Midsummer Night’s dream, Britten) and Miss Jessell (the Turn of the Screw, Britten). Additional roles include Dalinda (Ariodante, Handel), Laoula (L’etoile, Chabrier), and Susan (A Dinner Engagement, Lennox Berkeley).
